Square Peg

No boss or company dress code should ever stop you from finding ways to make your business attire interesting. Sure, there’s probably a sad sad sad boss out there (emphasis on the “sad”) who hates anything colorful or is a little too conservative for his/her own good, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to outdated slacks and blouses that look like you got them from your grandmother, right? (Nothing against your grandmother, I’m sure there are plenty of vintage gems in her closet, but you know what I mean.) If you’ve read my previous posts on corporate dressing, you might recall me saying that the way to work around this dilemma is to look for clothes that have interesting designs and cuts. You don’t have to go loud on prints and colors to shake things up. Take a look at this black and white outfit for example. It’s simple, clean and minimalistic but it’s far from boring as well. Both my top and skirt make use of different materials, textures and lines to provide striking contrasts that modernize this classic pairing. I’m sure the boss won’t frown upon this ensemble. If she/he still does, then we’ve got a serious problem. Calling Dr. Phil!

I love how you give us ideas on what we can wear as an office girl. So fab and so stylish attire and can give job seekers an idea on how to look good on their interviews! As what they always says, first impression last. Good clothes can give you a good character. :)

I always love the combination of black and white. But may I ask, what are other appropriate color combinations for business attire? And I’m not so used to dress elegantly everyday since we are in our daily uniforms. I am a graduating student and in a few weeks, we’re attending a job haunting seminar and we are asked to wear a corporate attire for this upcoming event. How can I dress but not to impress? :D Thank you and more power to you Ms. Camille! God bless! :)

Hmm there are plenty of colors but if you want to play it safe, stick to neutrals like beige and gray :) And add a few dark colors like wine or mustard :)

Quirky! I can share this to my classmates who are going to have an OJT next semester. They can get an idea here when they are going to have their interviews and the like. This post shows that you cannot only limit yourself to those super formal outfits during an interview but also you can go out of the box but not over the box, just the right outfit with such little formality at the same time trendy for today’s gen! XOXO

Well said, Camille! I think a lot of people forget the fact that they can still look stylish while following a certain dress code. This blog post is proof of that! I find your skirt to be really interesting… I keep staring at it and I’m still intrigued by it (in a good way)! <3
