20 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

I’m finally making a personal blog post after so long! If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time I’m doing this (but please do correct me if wrong). I noticed a lot of you have been tagging me on Instagram to make my very own “20 things you didn’t know about me” post so I figured why not make a blog entry out of it. After almost 4 years of blogging, I think it’s high time I let you in a little more. So here goes!

1. I started dying my hair only after college because my mom wouldn’t allow me. But before that, some of my old high school teachers and classmates would suspect that I colored my hair because under the sun, it kinda looks a bit light brown/reddish. Come college, my hair went through a weird phase when one month, it would be extra light and other times, it would get extra dark.

2. Speaking of hair, I was originally born with super curly hair. (Yes, the kind that has a life of its own.) My mom shaved my head twice as a baby so now, my hair is just naturally wavy.

3. I was also originally left-handed according to my mom. They just trained me early on to use my right hand so there are no traces of being a leftie in me anymore.

4. I’ve always been bubbly even as a kid. Apparently, I’d claim to house guests that when I grow up, I’m going to be a beauty queen–in the tune of the “Little Miss Philippines” opening speech. Now though, I’d deny this ever happened. I always thought my dream job as a kid was to be a teacher. I’d even gather my stuffed toys and pretend they were my students, with a broken antenna in hand as my pointer and my portable chalkboard hanging on the wall.

5. I’m the only tall member of my family so I guess I got the recessive gene. (That and the fact that I drank a lot of milk and always slept early as a kid.) Without my scoliosis, my height would’ve been 5’9″. Gasp. I used to hate being tall as a kid (which is why I have a really bad posture). I wanted to be at the front part of the line in school because it was much more fun. So every summer, I’d pray to God not to let me grow any taller (because for some reason, I seem to grow so much every summer break). God didn’t grant my wish though. He only started granting it when I realized I actually like my height. Pfft.

6. I used to be a carbs freak. I’d eat platefuls of rice and an entire big bowl of mashed potatoes everyday. My love for carbs started when I was in high school. I was so desperate to gain weight so I’d just load up on carbs all the time. I only learned to curb my appetite for carbs recently when my doctor advised me to lessen my carb intake due to an increased sugar level in my blood. (I’d rather sacrifice rice than sweets and desserts.)

7. Although I do work out, I hate cardio and leg exercises. I can only spend 10 minutes on the treadmill and I curse squats.

8. I can not cook to save my life. When I studied in France for 4 months, I survived with the help of microwaveable Uncle Ben rice, pre-cooked meals (that still ended up being undercooked), chicken nuggets, omelets, corned beef and bacon. Anyone who’s shared a meal with me knows that I eat like there’s no tomorrow so this was definitely a tragic tragic time for my stomach.

9. I used to be scared of flying. As much as I love traveling, I hated getting on the plane. Every turbulence would play Final Destination scenarios in my head. Eventually, I got over it. Thank God or else I’d be a nervous wreck now.

10. I never learned a lot of French during my foreign exchange program. I only know a handful of phrases which is a shame really. I do speak Mandarin and Fukien fluently, aside from English and Filipino.

11. I’ve always been an honor student ever since I can remember but I don’t necessarily have the same traits as most nerds do. I was never that kid who’d join math, science and spelling contests. I joined singing, dancing and declamation contests instead. I also cram a lot and let my seatmates copy my answers. (Bad bad example. LOL.)

12. I like to read manuals when I get new gadgets. I don’t know why but I feel like I have to be thorough. Haha!

13. Eye infections/defects/tricks creep me out. I mean, I don’t judge but I’m just scared of them like how some people are scared of seeing blood. One of my bestest friends had swollen eyes before due to an allergy, I accompanied her the entire day and it took all of me to look her in the eye and not pass out.

14. Ironically, one thing I’m not afraid of are needles. For example, I’d rather get injected with anesthesia when I’m at the dentist than have to sit there and agonize over when the pain will come.

15. Speaking of the dentist, I’ve never had my wisdom teeth removed. I think I only have 2 and it’s not even certain if I have to have them removed. Woohoo!

16. My favorite show of all time is Friends. I have the entire collection and I can watch them over and over again. “WE WERE ON A BREAK!”

17. While we’re on the topic of friends, I count myself blessed to have met the best of friends anyone can ever ask for. I don’t think I have a lot of them, but the few that I hold dear to my heart are precious. I trust them completely and know that they have my back 100%–everyone from my childhood besties, college friends and blogger besties.

18. I get misjudged a lot because I have a resting b*tch face and eyes that can pierce through your soul. I blame my mom and her genes for this. LOL! But when you meet me, you’d know I’m totally the opposite and like to crack jokes a lot (which I sometimes regret especially when I’m on a show or something.)

19. This is always the number one question from readers aside from what’s your height, what’s your hair color and what’s your camera: do you have a boyfriend? No, I don’t have one and yes, I’ve had some. If and when I do have one though, I don’t think I’ll be sharing too much about the relationship nor the person. I just think life is simpler that way so I hope it’s okay with you guys. I know a lot of you are excited for this moment to come. Lol!

20. I can not pronounce “nakakapagpabagabag”, whistle, ride the bike nor kill cockroaches. These are my major weaknesses in life. Lol! Just kidding. But I really can’t do these things.

There you go, 20 random/useless information about me that I thought would be fun to share with you guys. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me below. I’d be happy to answer them!

Hi camille what’s your height ? How do you manage to wear heels if you are already tall because I have an issue that if I wear heels I tend to look like a monster . In our family , not everyone is tall so I don’t wear heels . Btw I loved your post. : )

I find you very interesting that I can’t afford to miss an Instragram post of yours. You see, while I’m having insomnia attack right now, I’ve thought of researching your name on Google for additional info about you. Haha! I just want you to know that you inspire me by the things you do and the person that you are. I hope to meet you in person one day.

May scoliosis din ko, at meron ka rin po pala, di ko alam kung matutuwa ako or ano ahahahah ilang degrees po sa inyo?

tapos about sa beauty pageants, nakasali ka na po cguro kahit local lang..?

di ko rin kaya magbike. di kasi ako makabalance. dahil kaya ito sa scoliosis? lol actually i blame scoliosis for every physical activity im unable to do including swimming and aerobics xD

ithink na mention na pagiging honor studet nyo in one of your interviews.. ;D mas naging idol po kayo dahil sa fact na yun..

    Reply
    • Camille Co

I don’t join pageants. Hindi ako beauty queen material. LOL :) Let’s not blame scoliosis, kasi I was able to balance myself naman on rollerblades haha! I can’t remember how many degrees mine is but I think around 13?

Omg! We have the same weaknesses! I don’t know how to ride a bike, kill a cockroach, and even whistle! Whenever there’s a cockroach or a mouse in my room, I won’t sleep there. I would beg for someone to kill it and until then, I won’t go to my room. They scare me a lot.

Hi, I just want to know your opinion on the sudden bloom of the Philippine Fashion Blogging industry it seems like everyone wants to be a fashion blogger now a days, I noticed that one of the reasons why people create fashion blogs and why this people idolize you and the other fashion bloggers is because of the lifestyle and luxury that comes with it.

My question is, is this lifestyle and luxury is something you fashion bloggers grew up with or is it something that had become a part of you because of hard work and effort in creating a trendy fashion blog post?

I want your opinion because youre one of the pioneers of Fashion Blogging in the Philippines.

    PS: Your Snapchat is awesome!

Thank you for that wonderful question. LOL! I feel like I’m in a beauty pageant. Hmmm I don’t think everyone has the same reason for wanting to be a fashion blogger and for following certain blogs. I’d like to think that readers get inspired by what you wear and what you experience. They’re looking for ideas and tips. Yes some may aspire to be a fashion blogger because of the lifestyle and luxury but personally, I don’t think it should be the reason to start a blog.

Anyway to answer your main question, I think it’s a little of both. I’m lucky to have this kind of lifestyle because of my parents but at the same time, now that I’m of age, it’s because of my hard work and effort that I’m able to continue doing so. :)

Also yung, carbs freak. Sobrang carbs freak ko dati pero ever since I started being conscious with my weight, I seriously cut them and I’m now a fiber/protein freak. Yes as in kinalbo! :) She did it to me and my brother. My brother now has super straight hair. She shaved my sister’s once lang because she had the straightest hair out of all of us when we were babies. It backfired because now, she has the most unruly hair haha! :)

I love this post ‘coz I was able to know more about you. I can relate with the height thingy. I also have bad posture because when I was a kid I also want to be in front of the line but due to my height I have to be on the last (but I usually trick my other classmate that she’s taller than me so I can at least be not in the end of the line haha kahit di naman siya mas matangkad. haha) I also don’t know how to cook and ride the bike. Hahaha. I’ve met you once in a Goody event and I am so glad that I approached you kahit mag isa lang ako. Haha. You are so approachable and I can’t forget that day. In that short time, I can say that you’re so cool and fun to be with. Ang bait bait mo! Haha. Kaya kahit namiss ko yung umpisa ng basketball game, tinapos ko yung talk mo, kasi I promised to stay.

I really enjoyed reading this post :D I feel like I got to know a little more about you. I can’t ride a bike either LOL! And I used to not want to be taller too. I started drinking coffee at a young age hoping it would stunt my growth (I thought “shorter” = “smaller” = “more FEMININE” hahaha).

You wanted to be a teacher pala. In a way, you’re a teacher naman na now. You teach us all your knowledge about fashion via your blog <3

P.S. — you look so fresh and pretty in these photos!

today i wish i could still write with my left hand too because i think it’s cool to use both of your hands. :D

You’ve mentioned before Miss Camille that you dont post bikini photos because your family is conservative. And I’m happy that changed, cause your now confident to post some. Does your family understand your being a blogger thats why they let you? :)

And this post is really interesting! If you were 5’9″, it would be a bit awkward to take photos beside your blogger besties. No offense to them, but you are really tall. So jealous, im only 5’2″.

Yes! I never told my mom but she reads my blog and checks my Instagram. When I saw her reading a bikini post, I was so scared at first that she’d reprimand me. I think it comes with age. Maybe if I posted bikini photos waaaaaay back, she’d get mad but now it’s okay. She’d even tell me, “Your boobs are extra small here. You should put some pads.” LOL!

It feels so good to read your blog again for how many months, all I’ve been focusing was school and now I got the chance to insert some of my time here even tho it’s midterms week.Even though I always fail to meet you when you visit Cebu, I still do hope our paths will cross. Haha And I know, even if you have the b*tch face (I can relate), I often crack jokes, as well. Hi Cams!!!

    Hi Ms. Camille!

    9. I used to be scared of flying. As much as I love traveling, I hated getting on the plane. Every turbulence would play Final Destination scenarios in my head. Eventually, I got over it. Thank God or else I’d be a nervous wreck now.

Lucky for you! I’m still not over it.

Also, pleeeease try joining beauty pageants! Gorgeous is an understatement because you are perfect!

Feel ko through this post, close agad ako sayo. Haha. Thank you for this Camille! :)

Lol I think I like you more now. You have very similar traits/weakness with me (not going to bore you with the details). I was very interested in your abroad experience. Did you win a scholarship or did you finance yourself? How was the process of finding a place to stay? I hope these questions are not very personal (if they are, skip them! ^^) I am asking because I want to go abroad for masters and I really want to know more about such experiences. ^^

    • Camille Co

Thanks Dilek! Well, my university had a program called Junior Term Abroad for School of Management students. They have different arrangements with different schools abroad. In order to qualify for the program, we had to maintain a certain QPI, then submit our application. Our dean then chooses who gets to go and ranks us accordingly. We then get to choose which school we want to go to, in the order of our rank (because some schools have limited slots only.) The school I chose offers waived tuition fees but that’s it. We have a school dorm which was kind of expensive but compared to our other friends’ dorms around France, ours was the best. So basically we paid for everything except the tuition fee. :)

These were awesome Cams! I kept giggling, ooh-ing and aah-ing as I read along. That height part I can relate to a lot! I used to wish that I wasn’t so tall too because being the last girl on the line/seat in school meant poor view of the black board and come theater time, you get the worst seat in the auditorium. Plus, cute classmates were definitely way shorter. Yes, from elementary all the way to college. HAHAHA! But height has its perks too so I love it now. Hihi. You should do more of these Cams. Maybe once in a while perhaps? This reminds me of you and your bubbly , talkative and kulit self last year during your birthday dinner. Time flies fast. Malapit na ulit bday mo!
