The Walk At JBR

How do you spend the last day of an awesome week-long get-away in Dubai? Shopping and dining, of course! Since I had dinner reservations at Atlantis, The Palm before heading straight to the airport, my mom and I killed time at the nearby The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence. A lot of you suggested this place on my Instagram and I can see why. It’s the city’s first outdoor shopping and dining promenade, located just a few steps away from the beach. It has a totally different vibe to it, a bit more Western than usual. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought I was in California!

This is a first though–being all covered up when I’m this close to the beach. Actually, I don’t know if you noticed, but I’ve been covered up for most of my outfit posts from Dubai. Although there are a few tourists who dress less conservatively, I just thought it’s only proper to respect their customs. Yes, Dubai is relatively more modern than other Muslim cities, but according to my research online and from my friends’ stories, showing too much skin may still get you a little too much unwanted stares. Better play it safe. It was winter after all when I went to Dubai. The weather was perfect for a little light layering.

I like your outfit a lot Miss Camille! :) Loving the grid prints and patterns these days. And I love how you paired it up with your keds sneakers rather than the usual brogues or oxford shoes.

It’s such a cool outfit. I especially love the Proenza Schouler bag. By the way, I think you did well by covering up more. It shows that you have a good sense when it comes to your surroundings and you are respectful. I haven’t been to a country that has a more conservative dress code, but I would probably dress as you did.
