Held once again at Barcelona’s Muceu Nacional D’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), Pronovias proved once more why no other atelier dresses the dreams of brides from around the world the way it does. The Pronovias 2016 collection entitled “Once Upon A Time” showcased the fashion house’ trademark aesthetic that inspires pure lines, volumes and details. From crêpe, organza, cotton piqué, mikado silk, silk organza, crystal tulle and lest we forget, the star of this collection–Pronovias’ trademark lace, every dress was created with materials that have been reinterpreted to give life to the movement of pieces, creating a fluid and sophisticated silhouette that celebrates the beauty of the bride. Out of all of the dresses though, those with plunging fronts and backs that fade into the body through the masterful layering of crystal tulle and lace have become the most synonymous to Pronovias–at least in my mind. I still remember how last year’s finale dress blew everyone away. This year’s was no different, still incorporating the same transparent concept but now in a subtler mermaid silhouette combined with a dramatic train. Irina Shayk looked divine in it! It wasn’t my favorite though, close but not quite. The piece that won my heart was the crepe gown in a cape design that Irina also wore. It was minimalist and sleek yet every bit as fabulous as the other more intricate gowns. How about you? Which one is your favorite?
