VLOG: Brows On Fleek

“Di bale na walang kulay, basta may kilay.” (Translation: it’s okay to look pale/colorless as long as you’ve got your brows on.” The first time I heard this saying was at a magazine shoot I had many many years ago. I was still a newbie in the industry then, equipped with close to nothing knowledge about beauty and makeup. I’d say it was my eureka moment about the importance of having good looking eyebrows. You see, your eyebrows affect your appearance A LOT. They help frame your face, make your nose appear slimmer and can even make you look younger when done right. This is why plenty of beauty enthusiasts and makeup artists are brow addicts. I’ve started to join the bandwagon as well. As much as I hate to admit it, I’ve even become a bit too particular with how other people draw my brows on. No matter how pretty the rest of the makeup on my face looks, once the perfect brows for my face aren’t achieved, I can look like (a) a boy; (b) a drag queen; (c) angry; (d) I have a nose that’s bigger than it already is; or (d) all of the above. And no, I’m not exaggerating.

So needless to say, I take joy in finding the right brow products…and you should to. To help you, I’ve come up with a review of Benefit Cosmetic’s New Brow Collection that’s available at Sephora Philippines. Yes, you read that right, Sephora is finally available locally online!!! (Beauty junkies, Bring out the confetti and fireworks!)

In my latest Vlog video below, I tried Benefit Cosmetic’s Precisely My Brow Eyebrow Pencil, Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil, Brow Zings Eyebrow Shaping Kit, KaBrow Eyebrow Cream Gel, Ready Set Brow Clear Brow Gel and Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel. That’s a long list of products so please bear with the slightly long video. I placed markers in the Youtube description box just in case there is a specific product you want to check out so you can easily skip to that part. If you’re wondering which one is my favorite, I liked KaBrow and Ready Set Brow the most. The entire Benefit Cosmetics Brow Collection is really good though so whichever products you end up choosing (it’s good to mix a few of them), you’re sure to have eyebrows on fleek!

P.S. This is my first time shooting and editing my own video so there’s a bit of a booboo on the exposure and lighting on some parts. I tried my best to fix it though! Hope you guys like it! More to come! Feel free to suggest more topics for my VLOG.

Camille, did you have to change the shape of your brows? Mine is naturally arched high and someone suggested I try the more trendy straight with only a small arch. However I don’t know how to do that without taking away my real brows. If you did it, can you do a tutorial on how? Also what foundation do you use? I’m finding it hard to look for one that matches my skin tone

I didn’t have much brows to begin with so no need for a change in eyebrow shape in my case. If you do want to try the trendy semi-straight brows, why don’t you test it out first? Don’t take any of your real brows away. Just use a good foundation and concealer to cover some parts so that if it doesn’t look good on you, you still have your real brows. Right now, I’m using foundations from Hourglass, Benefit and Laura Mercier. :)
