Shopping For Vintage

I still remember the first ever luxury bag I bought. (Well, okay, technically, I didn’t buy it. It was a gift from my mom.) It was during my student exchange program in France. My mom and brother flew with me to Paris before my semester started. And like true Asian tourists, we went shopping at the famed street of Champs Elysees. There at the corner of Avenue George V stood Louis Vuitton’s flagship store. I was ecstatic. I’m finally getting my own Louis Vuitton bag! I felt like it was a rite of passage. It was as if my mom was telling me, “I think you’re ready, my child.” Lol. A tad bit dramatic, I know. But I just couldn’t help it. I mean, it was LOUIS VUITTON!

Louis Vuitton is a household name. Even if you’re not into fashion, chances are you’ve probably heard of it at least once in your life. It is that classic brand everyone knows and many aspire to have. But because it IS a luxury brand, it obviously doesn’t come cheap. And when practical minds take over, it makes purchasing a Louis Vuitton bag all the more difficult.

So how does a frugal shopper get her hands on a LV bag? Shop for preloved ones! I’ll be honest. I’ve never actually shopped for second-hand luxury bags. The skepticism and paranoia my mom has successful planted on my brain stop me from ever considering buying from second-hand shops despite the better price points. How can I be sure it’s real? What if it’s a scam? What if the product I get is nothing like the one on the photo? Color me dubious. This is why when Brian of @luxeforlessphilippines invited me to take a look at their preloved LV bags for sale on eBay, I was initially hesitant. I had to do my research first.

You see, when buying goods on eBay, the trick is not to get wheeled in by unbelievably low prices. If the price is too good to be true, chances are it’s a scam. You have to make sure to check the seller’s score too. Brian’s Luxe For Less is one of the largest online stores selling over 100 preloved Louis Vuitton bags, and yet he retains 100% positive feedback from buyers. He is also very transparent–all his products are presented in photos taken form various angles and have detailed description of the condition they’re in. At least this way, you’re certain you won’t be getting any surprises.

So fast forward to a few weeks after, I finally got my Louis Vuitton Montsouris backpack (which unfortunately, is the last piece) from him. It’s in pretty good condition still except for a few stains at the bottom, which he dutifully informed me about. Check it out in the photos below and see it for yourself! I honestly think it’s such a good deal, especially for those who are not too keen on buying a Louis Vuitton bag at full price.

Louis Vuitton is really such a classic luxury brand! :) This backpack looks lovely! And yes, just like you, my mom has successfully influenced me to be pretty hesitant about second hand bags despite the lower prices! That’s why research is so important! <3 Loving the way you styled this backpack!

This is awesome Camille esp for those who are more interested buying a luxury bag. Still, it’s nice you’ve got the last piece of it, which is not bad at all. Very nice, though. How I wish I can have that too..but I think it will just stay as a dream bag for me.. :)
