So why am I blogging in this ungodly hour? Because I went into panic mode a while ago when I found out I couldn’t log into my blog! Thank God I was finally able to fix it. And since I already got so worked up with my never-ending tech-related dilemma, I might as well enjoy the fruits of my labor and post an entry before I go to bed. Well, actually I still have to prepare 5 outfits for 2 shoots later so I’m probably not getting any sleep tonight. Oh well, good luck to my fezzzzz.

So here’s what I wore to the Call It Spring Shopping Event last May 5. Given that it’s a Call It Spring event, I made sure to wear Call It Spring shoes. Luckily, I was able to find clothes that matched my favorite pair of Call It Spring heels!

Does anyone else feel that my outfit can pass off as tapestry-inspired? The material and print of my blazer and shoes plus my velvet shorts remind me so much of tapestry! And because I always associate tapestry with opulence, there’s no other way to accessorize but to accessorize with gold!

My outfit weirdly reminds me of toy building blocks I used to play with when I was a kid…or those shape-sorters for babies. It’s probably because of the colors and the geometric shapes on my outfit. Oh this brain of mine, sometimes I wonder myself why it functions this way haha! Forgive me. Can’t do nothing about it! Hooooh well.

Anyway, here’s another one of my “let’s-pretend-I’m-too-cool-to-care” get-ups. Lousy shirts like this are perfect for achieving that effortless look. I kinda hoarded this shirt when I saw it at one of Zara’s branches in Barcelona. If they had it in 12 colors, I would’ve probably gotten all 12! I’m such a sucker for sexy backs. Plus points for the bright color too! Can you say, summer? Suuuuummmmmmerrrrrrrr!

And since I got so inspired by the geometric print of my pants and my shirt’s bright color, I made sure my bag and shoes were also in theme. If you observe my outfit closely though, not one color is exactly the same but they go surprisingly well together. The trick? Pair complementary colors, and if you’ll add more colors, make sure they’re from the same color family as the existing colors.

Here’s the last of my beach looks. I’m so happy I was able to squeeze in a Labor Day weekend vacation. When you’re living such a fast-paced lifestyle, you have to grab every opportunity to let loose and just kick back with friends. I’ve been so busy I’ve already lost track of dates even! Is it just me or is this year going by so fast! Wasn’t it just yesterday when we welcomed the new year? It certainly feels like it! But, this is good right? It only means I’ve been so busy and I’m living life to the fullest. They say you should take your time while you’re still young. I say make the most out of your youth! This is why I can really relate to Smart’s Live More campaign. There really is no time to waste. Smart says, “Your time is your life, and the less of it you waste, the more of it you live.” So true.

If you’re wondering why I’m all made up, it’s because this photo was taken right after my shoot for a magazine feature coming out next month. I can’t wait to tell you all about it! It’ll be  my first time ever to get featured in this magazine so I’m more than excited to see how the final layout will look like. Any guesses as to which magazine I’m pertaining to? Har har, I’m such a tease!

Anyway, since I can’t share with you what I wore for the feature just yet, here’s what I wore behind-the-scenes.

When I first received this dress from Spanish website Buylevard, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to wear it. I had to go online again and check how it looked like on the model to refresh my memory and figure out which sleeve goes where. It may look simple, but trust me, it’s a little puzzling when laid down flat, all because of its unconventional asymmetric cut. Amazing what a small detail like this can do. Such a simple silhouette but still striking overall.

It doesn’t hurt that it comes in an equally striking symmetric print too. I really love this dress. I’m definitely getting more from Buylevard. Have I mentioned they deliver worldwide and carry over 100 designers and brands?

There’s actually only one problem with this dress. It’s a little too short on me so if you look closely, I’m actually wearing a skirt underneath it. I tried my best to look for a skirt that fits its print. I do this all the time with dresses that are tad bit too short on me. With the right print/color, no one will notice! Sometimes, they can even make the dress look better than it already is so technically, this dress being a little short on me isn’t really a problem.

Black accents when strategically placed are God’s gift to women. They’re not only flattering for all body types but they provide great contrast as well, making any look stand out instantly. It’s such a powerful color, don’t you agree? Take my outfit for example, without the black accents, my look wouldn’t be as strong.

I love all the pieces I have on here! Denim + sheer sleeves, metal necklace, tribal skirt and attention-grabbing heel-less shoes! With their powers combined (yes, this line shamelessly takes inspiration from Captain Planet, I’m corny like that har har), it’s hard not to make a statement!

There are certain trends that are almost always present every summer–floral, brights, color blocking and like the one I’m wearing here–nautical. One fail-proof combination for this trend is the color red paired with blue. They’re made for each other. You can NEVER go wrong with these 2 colors. No heels here! I’m so happy I got my trusty, foldable flats from Footzyrolls with me. Thank God they’re so light, compact and easy to bring around. Lord knows my feet needed some rest! This particular pair from Footzyrolls is actually pretty cool because it’s sort of 2-in-1. The striped bows in front are removable and you can change them to plain red ones as you wish. How do you like that!? Practical in more ways than 1!

All Footzyrolls’ shoes come with one big pouch and one small pouch. These shoes are really the tiniest and lightest foldable flats I’ve ever encountered!

It’s MEGA Magazine’s Most Stylish party once again! I remember when I first opened my invite, my first concern was what I was going to wear. (Haha!) You can’t blame me you know. Huge pressure to be on the same stage as the other women on the list, it really is! Anyway, so having just come back from my trip to Europe, I really had no time to prepare an outfit for myself. Thank God for my good friend, designer extraordinaire Eric Delos Santos, who came to save this damsel in distress!

Isn’t this gown just divine?!!! I love how Eric used heavy materials and textures but still managed to make such a soft and feminine design. With a gown as beautiful as this, styling becomes a piece of cake! All I added was a gold belt to cinch my waist and a few more gold accessories for a “ang yaman ko lang” look. Kidding aside, the gold accents really adds sophistication and makes the entire look much more formal and appropriate for nightwear.

In keeping with the night look, I asked my makeup artist Pong Niu to apply smokey makeup on me instead of the usual makeup associated with florals and everything girly. For my hair, instead of wearing it all up in a neat and tidy up do, I opted for a messy ponytail to keep my look fresh and young. It’s also the perfect hairstyle to show off my gown’s low cut back and these beautiful vintage earrings I got from a thrift store in Barcelona. (Can I just say, these earrings are mighty heavy, but I still bought them anyway because they’re too pretty! According to the store owner, they’re vintage earrings from Paris. Imagine what stories these earrings can tell!)

Thank you once again to Mega Magazine for including me in this year’s 20 Most Stylish Women. To be included in last year’s list of 10 was already such a huge honor! To be included again this year, especially on the year of your 20th anniversary, is just overwhelming!

It’s more fun in the Philippines especially when you’re in Boracay with your friends! I’m definitely still on a high from my recent trip to the island last weekend. And to think, that was my 3rd time to visit in a span of a month! We did nothing but swim, eat, sleep, party, eat, sleep, party, swim, party haha! Who wouldn’t love that?

But even with all the fun I had on the island, the fashion blogger in me never left. I still found the time to take some outfit shots for ze blog. Print on print at the beach, anyone?

Print on print again! If you’re a little afraid to mix prints together, start by pairing prints of the same color. The monochromatic look is a subtler way of doing the trend so it’s easier to pull off.

In my case, I paired this tribal top with my striped shorts. They’re both in cream and black so they already kinda match. Both prints have a horizontal orientation too so even though they’re bold and high in contrast prints individually, they don’t clash when paired together.

Finally, I added just a few accessories to complement my look. When pairing bold prints together, make sure your accessories are cohesive with your look. Don’t add further contrast to keep the look clean and well-balanced.
