Travel Diary: Lee Moon Won + Han River Cruise

Our third day in Korea was totally a “me day”, dedicated to spoiling all of us rotten. After shopping to our hearts’ content at Myeong-dong, we were whisked off to the Lee Moon Won Korean Medicine Clinic located at the posh area of Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam to give our hair a little TLC.

Dr. Lee Moon Won specializes in external and internal medication for scalp and hair disorders using Korean traditional medicine. He makes use of a more holistic approach to treating hair concerns like hair loss, irritated scalp, hair thinning and more without the use of harsh chemicals or surgeries.  Over the last 12 years of practice, he has already treated more than 42,000 cases of difficult and unusual scalp and hair disorders from all over the world. Wow! His clinic is actually the one and only national affiliated Korea Medicine Clinic that specializes in scalp and hair disorder in Gangnam.

Our session at the clinic started with a consultation with one of the many hair experts in the clinic. Here we were able to pinpoint our major hair problems and the various treatments that we can do to solve them. Since we were lucky enough to have Dr. Lee Moon Won himself at the clinic during our visit, some of us were able to get a one-on-one diagnosis from him too. I sat in on one of the consultations he gave to a fellow guest. In just a few minutes, I learned so much! Apparently, it’s not just the things we do and apply on our hair directly that affect our hair’s health but our lifestyle and diet play big roles as well.

After consultation, we were all treated to an unforgettable hair spa experience. It’s their most basic session but boy did it feel good! My hair expert applied a bunch of stuff on my hair, the most memorable one was a minty treatment that felt like heaven on my scalp. She massaged my scalp and exfoliated it to remove dead skin cells. The 90-minute session aimed to detoxify my hair and detoxify it did! My scalp never felt cleaner and fresher!

The last stage of our visit was hair styling. The Lee Moon Won Korean Medicine Clinic offers services like hair perming, treatment, hair cut, coloring and even wig bespoke services–all using Dr. Lee Moon Won’s special medication and technology. This way, your hair is not only styled but repaired and improved as well. You get polished hair without the damage.

It was truly an honor to meet Dr. Lee Moon Won himself. I was actually dreading to meet him at first because I was scared he’d judge my abused hair but he’s so nice. If you want to get diagnosed by Dr. Lee Moon Won as well but you’re not able to go all the way to Seoul, he gives consultations to international clients over email and video calls. He gives personalized and integrated treatment plans for concerns like alopecia, pediatric hair loss, dandruff, damaged hair, hair thinning, receding hair line and more. Various specialized products formulated by the doctor himself and his team of scientists are also available. I got my parents and myself a few of the products. I’m actually using the Hair Essential Serum now.

After our hair pampering, our final stop for the day was a boat cruise along one of Korea’s major rivers, the Han River. I know a lot of locals like to chill, walk and bike along its riverside because of its beautiful view and lovely weather.

The ferry we road was the E-Land Cruise’s ferry. If you’re  a K-drama fan, it might look familiar to you.

Hint, someone fell over this ferry on the first few episodes of the series. Yes, you’ve guessed it! It’s the same cruise featured on the popular series You Who Came From The Star!

Don’t worry, I’m holding on tight! No man overboard here! (Unless Do Min Joon is watching over me and he’s just waiting to save me.)

Looks like the boat beside ours was hired for a special occasion! Did someone just propose? The romantic in me hopes so!

The cruise we went on had a dinner buffet (plus live music) included in the package. The buffet had everything from Korean to Japanese to Western cuisine.

Of course the best part of the cruise is the night view of the city with the various building and bridges lit up.

Can you spot the Seoul Tower?

I definitely recommend taking a night cruise (any cruise) along the Han River. It’s the best way to end a day around Seoul.

Special thanks to AirAsia and Korea Tourism Office for making this awesome itinerary!

Cool, there’s so much to do in Korea. Hmm that view is romantic especially if you’re having a candle light dinner for two in that cruise. And I just had to confess that even if your travel diaries are long, I don’t get bored reading them. It feels like I’m there experiencing the whole thing with you! More travel diaries to come and can’t wait for your birthday/blogniversary dinner date post roo!

OMGEEEE!!! The cruise from “You who came from the stars”? That’s the night when the ground shakes and then tipsy si Cheon Song-Yi muntik na cyang mahulog and then si-nave siya ni Do Min Joon. Oh I really want to relive that moment over and over again from the drama series. How lucky naman of you ate Cams nakasakay ka the same cruise line with that k-series, parang feel mo na ikaw si Cheon Song-Yi. And speaking of hte city lights at night-Oh what a picturesque view of nighttime Korea!!! XOXO
