Do The Wakudoki

This is what the beach does to me. I turn into an overly giddy person who runs all over the place like crazy. This stolen shot of me running to my friend who’s sunbathing peacefully in Bali is proof enough, yes? I was so hyper I was actually this close to asking them to do the Wakudoki dance craze with me. We were thinking of doing another hilarious dance video for fun anyway. We ended up not doing it though, but if we did, this Wakudoki dance would’ve been perfect! It has a beach version we could’ve easily imitated!

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Wakudoki is part of Toyota’s latest campaign.“Waku-Waku” is Japanese for your heart is pumping with joy, while “Doki-Doki” is Japanese for the sound of heartbeat. Therefore, Wakudoki represents Toyota’s new brand spirit of making your life more exciting and happy. You can clearly see this in the Wakudoki video featuring the famous Japanese dance performance unit, World Order. Their dance moves are infectious and look like loads of fun to do! The video is so hilarious I don’t know how they were able to keep a straight face on the entire time! Check it out and see for yourself!

If this video makes you feel like jumping on the Wakudoki dance craze, I definitely recommend that you join Toyota’s dance contest while you’re at it. You just might win a trip for 2 to Tokyo if you do! All you have to do is record a video of yourself dancing to the original music and doing the Wakudoki dance. (There’s a tutorial online featuring motion-sensor technology if you need one.) Then, upload your video via the Wakudoki website or the Wakudoki mobile app available on both Android and iOS stores. The contest is only available to residents of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The most viewed video uploaded in each of these countries will win a set of Beats by Dr. Dre earphones. Then, a grand winner for each country among all the submitted videos will be selected by World Order. A total of 8 grand winners will win a trip for two to Tokyo for 5 days and 4 nights!

Deadline for entries is on October 6, 2014 at 9AM Singapore time. Winners of the Beats by Dr. Dre earphones will be announced on October 10 and grand winners on October 30.
