As many of you may already know, I just recently visited Tokyo upon the invitation of Google Japan and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). I, along with Laureen and Tricia, were the Philippine representatives or ambassadors of METI’s special project called Cool Japan. This project is a government-funded initiative that aims to bring more attention to Japanese contents such as anime, manga, food, fashion, and more to other countries. (Emphasis on the “more” since Japan has such an interesting culture! There are so many things to explore.)
One of the main events we attended during our trip was Google Japan’s launch event for “100Tokyo“. “100Tokyo” is a new website run by Google Japan, where tourists like us can find the 100 best places and things to experience while in Tokyo. How I wish all the countries I plan to visit have a website like this! It would make my life as a tourist so much easier!
To experience “100Tokyo” ourselves, we did one of the many things on the list, namely, a photo tour. Google Japan arranged a quick photo tour for us around Harajuku, one of the most famous areas in Tokyo. We were all given a photo map to serve as our itinerary and we visited unique and quirky stores one can only find in Tokyo. I couldn’t stop ooh-ing and ahh-ing while walking around. And to think, this wasn’t even my first time to visit Harajuku! Hopefully, you’ll ooh and ahh as well when you see the photos below. (Just to clarify, I’m referring to the interesting finds I captured, not my outfit shots. LOL. But if you want ooh and ahh over my outfit shots, then double yay for me!)
Ready to explore?
This place has such a cute storefront! You can already tell the clothes inside are equally fun and colorful.
This is one of the many stores inside the Laforet mall, where Topshop is located as well. Young girls love to shop here.
I will never forget the name of this store because I’ve never seen a store like it! It’s called 6% Doki. I mean, come on. Tell me where else you can find a giant rat and huge injection of gumballs as store displays? Only in Tokyo!
This is another store inside Laforet. They have the coolest shirts and hoodies! They remind me so much of KPOP fashion.
What I love about Japan is that brands here are so diverse. They have crazy colorful styles that’s distinctly Japanese but at the same time, they also have clean, minimal and highstreet fashion like this.
Time for a macaron break! Oh wait, those are not Laduree macarons!
Don’t believe me? Take a closer look! That’s make-up! Yes, Laduree actually has a cosmetics line and it’s the yummiest makeup collection I’ve ever seen! I hear they’re pretty good too (for the face and not for eating. I just had to clarify, in case you’re still confusing these adorable little things for food.) No wonder Laduree makeup is so popular in Tokyo!
Bold prints. Bold statements. This is one store that’s full of character! It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Check out these accessories too! I definitely wouldn’t mind owning that dinosaur necklace. Statement kung statement!
These girls are the lovely salesladies of 6% Doki. I assume everything they’re wearing are 6% Doki merchandise because in Tokyo, salesladies are kind of like they’re ambassadors as well. Check out the cute bows on their hair!
These are real popcorn. I’m not kidding! Leave it up to Japan to always make the most interesting things. This store has plenty of other preserved food made into accessories. Of course, they’re no longer edible, but they do look delicious. LOL! If I wear these, I’d probably crave for popcorn all day!
Speaking of food, Harajuku isn’t just all about fashion, it has plenty of nice restaurants and cafes like this one too.
After our photo tour, we headed to Google Japan’s headquarters at Roponggi for the afterparty.
I can now officially say that I have step foot in a Google office. Woot! These welcome messages aren’t for us though. If I were a Google graduate, I’d be so touched! They look adorable!
Time to unwind and celebrate!
Here’s to the unveiling of “100Tokyo” for the first time!
I urge you to visit the website to know more! It’s still in the beginning phase so more will be added as time goes by. In the meantime, I’ll be posting the rest of my Japan adventures tomorrow.

Long time no reading your blog posts. Woaaah you changed hair color again?
It’s the same! I don’t know why my hair color keeps changing every now and then haha!
Ahh, you look incredible in that red jacket, Cams! I’ve said this before, but sometimes your style reminds me of CL from 2NE1. Very modern, trendy, and fashion-forward! Will definitely try to recreate this look somehow (although how I’m gonna do that in this Philippine heat is beyond me lol).
Japan is also one of my favorite places to visit. The culture is so rich and fascinating, and the local street style is very flambuoyant in a cool way <3

You are definitely a glamorous ambassador in this outfit, Miss Camille! Congratulations, and thank you for representing the Philippines in such style! Global Filipina Fashionistas Represent!
Who took your downward angle shots? The focal point made your outfit pop. I’m in love with that jacket, by the way. It’s like Emma Swan’s on Once Upon a Time.
Thank you Angelic! I think Laureen took them! :)

I think I may have already told you I lived in Japan for 3 years. I too experienced the “greeters,” the store ambassadors as it were, who would greet you on every floor of a multi-floor store. They were dressed in Kimonos back in the ’80’s. One thing that impressed me the most about my shopping experience was the emphasis on presentation. Everything, it seemed, was packaged so elegantly. The container was as nice as the product inside. I liked this blog very well, and look forward to your next blog about your Japan trip.
I agree! They have the best packaging!!! I noticed that too the first time I visited Japan. :) I wonder how Japan must’ve looked like during the 80s. That must’ve been so cool!
Aaaah Japan! One of the many places in my travel bucket list. I’m excited to see more. This post got my oohs and aahs both for Japan and your outfit. You rock print on print Cams!
