Mad For Plaid

Midi dresses are always so feminine and sophisticated. But because this one in particular is a tartan midi dress, I decided I’d style it differently this time around. How about a little grunge fashion thrown into the mix? The 90s kid in me approves. Nirvana approves as well. Smells like teen spirit? Heck yeah! But since I’m far from a teen (because I’m an Olay woman now–I’m not a girl, already a woman ang drama ko LOL), I didn’t go all out with the grunge vibe. No boots, no ripped or oversized denim, no overload of studs and leather. I chose to wear my midi dress the way a grown 25-year-old woman torn between grunge and sophistication would. I couldn’t resist not wearing this with a backpack though. Hey, grown women CAN wear backpacks you know! I needed an excuse to bring mine out for a spin.  This backpack’s original straps were actually too short on me when I first tried it at Furla. But because I really liked it, the motto “if there’s a will, there’s a way” prevailed. The saleslady got me this chain from Anteprima that I connected to my bag’s original straps. Do you see the chain? It matches  my bag so well you can hardly notice it’s not part of the original design. Yay! You should’ve seen me trying to solve this problem. My determination was admirable. LOL!

I really love the 4th photo of you, Ms Camille! You were like popping out and said “Oh, hi there”. LOL.. I can totally accept this look.. it’s not too grudge because of the midi length.. it’s still has a feminine side of it.. I can totally imagine your determination on your bag.. Can you make a blog post wherein you show how to wear a beanie in many ways? Hihihi. Thank you for the inspiration today, ate Camille. You’re so sophisticated as always. God bless you. Though I haven’t met you yet, I seem to have bond to you through reading your posts, I love you po. Hihihi. <3

I love the 90’s vibe in this look! I don’t know why but this look reminds me of the vocalist from the band Garbage. Oh, and how did you attach the chains sa bag? It’s an awesome tip! :) More DIY’s perhaps?

Flashback! This is not retro, not oldie, but a solid 90’s statement! What awesome finds, Miss Camille! :-)

This tartan dress is very energizing. It draws your gaze to the silhouette and fabric patterns. The length is so ladylike and your chosen accents of black in the form of your belt, beanie, and backpack (yay, alliteration!) Gives a youthful edge. I’m impressed with the effect of the chain you placed on the bag straps because the metallics are still feminine and not too chunky that it overshadows the design of the bag itself.

This backpack reminds me of the pretty satchels students use in European films. Like Emma Watson in “Ballet Shoes.”
I can totally see you strutting your stuff on England’s sidewalks in this outfit, Miss Camille! The classy way you put together streetwear pieces is incredible! :-)

I also thought your shoes were heeled brogues. I like how you chose to wear lace-up footwear to complete the 90’s vibe of your look. Also, where is this field of flowers you took your photos at? The change of scenery was a pleasant contrast to your urban ensemble.

I haven’t seen that film! Is it any good? :) I shot these photos at BGC still, just from a different angle. Thanks Angelic! I’d love to come up with an alliteration of my own but it’s already 12 am and my brain has gone ahead to bed haha!

There was this kind of mix emotions that I felt the moment I saw this post. There was this rockish kind of girl hidden in that beanie and there is this feminine side hidden in that tartan dress. It is just like hitting two birds with one stone. The amazing result of 90’s and modern! ;)
