Smooth Like Velvet

While walking around Geneva, my sister told me she’s been seeing so many people stare at my legs–and not just stare but actually turn their heads as we walk past them. No, it’s not because they love nor hate my legs. Don’t worry, I’m not about to flatter myself. I’m actually pretty sure their stares had nothing to do with their feelings towards my legs. LOL! You see, on this day that I decided to wear a mini skirt, it was extremely cold in Geneva. Locals were wearing windbreakers and all sorts of cold-weather gear while I, this foolish tourist, wore a mini skirt with stockings that seem thinner than my winged eyeliner. They must’ve been wondering how on earth is this girl managing? Why are her legs still working? Why hasn’t she frozen to death? Why is she so dumb?!

But you see, I have a little secret. No, I’m not related to Elsa (if you haven’t seen Frozen, then you can’t sit with us. Just kidding.) You know how sometimes, opaque tights just don’t go well with the dress or skirt or shorts you want to wear during winter? Sometimes, they just don’t work. You need to show a little skin. My trick? Wear nude colored thermals. Would you believe that I’m actually wearing 2 black thermals underneath my nude thermals which I then topped of with a pair of sheer stockings to give the illusion that I’m baring some skin? Fooled you, didn’t I? Har har. I’m wise like that. This velvet suit I’m wearing isn’t made for winter neither so underneath my sweater, there are a few more thermals in there. Since my velvet jacket is oversized, you can easily dismiss the bulkiness as part of the jacket’s style. See! There are plenty of ways to work around your clothes for winter. No need to hide under unflattering coats and jackets.

What are you using to publish your blogs? Do you use WordPress? By the way, your command of english is outstanding considering you are not native to english–I top my hat to you.

Thanks Don! English is actually spoken a lot here in my country. Everywhere you go there are English signs and most Filipinos can speak the language well :) And yes, I use WordPress.

Love reading your blog, every post!

I started blogging back in 2011 about the places I’ve been to but I deleted that blog this year and started a new one. My problem is for the life of me, I don’t know how to start every post (how to start my sentence) but you somehow seems to know where to begin. If you don’t mind me asking, how do you do that? Any advice?

Thank you in advance, Camille! :)

Oh gosh, I feel the same way so do not fret. I always feel like that whenever I’m about to write a blog post. It’s as if whatever I write, it sounds inadequate or wrong. Just keep doing it. Practice makes perfect. Once you get used to it, it’ll come naturally. Sometimes, I think back to the the time I took the photo. How did I feel. What was I thinking etc :)

“I think back to the the time I took the photo. How did I feel. What was I thinking etc :)”

Thank you Camille, this really helps! Being “English” is my second language; it’s not easy for me to write. But like you said “Just keep doing it. Practice makes perfect.” :)

I’m glad that you find time to answer questions on your blog. Thank you again and have a great day!

Thanks Lourine! For long haul trips and long durations, I usually bring one big bag and one small bag. But since I’m also attending an event during this trip, I brought an evening bag as well :)

Camille, I like the way you write your blogs. Do you write them yourself or do you have someone write them in english for you? Either way, you look good regardless of what you are wearing. Very professional and classy. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep reading (and watching).

Gasp! That is genius Cams! I never would have guessed. I’ll keep that in mind for my first winter experience…. hopefully soon. Haha. I easily get cold and I’m not sure how I’ll manage in cold weather but it’s something I want to try anyway. Cebu’s getting really warm in time for summer. Much too warm than I wanted honestly. LOL. Thanks for the tip!

I feel like that’s how the Japanese and Koreans manage during the cold too! And to think I thought it wasn’t that cold in geneva for you to wear stockings and a skirt out :P Para-paraan lang talaga to look awesome on a trip! :)) You should write a book on fashion cheaties like how Tyra Banks advices on cheaties on her diet :))

Haha! That’s a cool idea! :) But I don’t think I’m ready for a book :) I think Koreans and Japanese are just naturally used to the cold weather so they can manage without the layers!
