Travel With Purpose

The main reason why I visited Boracay last February was actually for TOMS One For One campaign. If you’re not familiar with this, this basically means that for every pair of TOMS shoes you purchase, TOMS donates a pair of shoes to the less fortunate. Same goes for TOMS eyewear. For every TOMS eyewear you purchase, eye care is donated to the poor. I’ve always been familiar with this campaign by TOMS. I actually came to know of the brand and bought my first ever pair of TOMS white slip-ons because of it. Needless to say, it’s an advocacy I support. So when TOMS Philippines invited me, along with my blogger besties Laureen and Nicole, to experience this firsthand, I was all for it. For one day, I was able to see a different side of Boracay–a part that I’ve never explored in the more than 8 times that I’ve been to the island. Not the clubs and the parties. Not the fine white sand and clear water. Not any of those. Instead, we went to a small town not so far away from the beach and met little kids who needed shoes to walk to school in. We washed their feet, gave them TOMS shoes and played with them. It was a beautiful experience–one that I will never forget. Now I know what TOMS truly means when they say “travel with purpose”. Yes, we were able to have fun under the sun and get a little R&R at the beach. But at the same time, we were also able to help out a bit. It’s a great way to travel.

P.S. I didn’t take photos of the kids to protect their privacy so I’ll leave you with photos of the R&R part of our trip for now. I just wanted to share this worthwhile campaign to encourage you to travel with purpose as well.

    This is such a meaningful travel indeed, Ms Camille.. It’s really kind of you to not post any picture of the kids.. I think it’s best to keep it as your memory.. and shopping with a good course are definitely a good thing.. =) You look stunning here.. I love your bikini and your colourful cover up..

    awwwwee. i was relived when there’s no picture taken when you washed their feet. from the heart talaga yung tulong niyo di kagaya ng mga politicians na pati plastic ng nilagyan ng bigas may mukha pa, kung mag-hug lang ng matanda kailangan may picture pa haha.     First of all, BRAVO to you and your blogger besties, Miss Camille! Taking on the chance to give children shoes to wear for school is very golden hearted of you. I salute and applaud this beautiful act of love.

    As for these r&r photos, my favorite is the silhouette picture of you three doing yoga poses against the backdrop of sunlight. The timing is BRILLIANT!

    Two thumbs up as well for your beachwear. I love how you pull off poses in this bikini set .Your printed scarf is the cutest ever! And your woven bag is covet-able.

    P.S. TOMS is also one of my favorite footwear brands. Your white pair is simply elegant.
