Back To School

I remember when I was still a young student, I’d always go shopping with my mom for school supplies a few weeks before classes start. It was one of the things I looked forward to the most. We’d buy new notebooks, cute mechanical pencils and those fancy pencil cases with lots of compartments. I felt like I was shopping for toys! Of course, these shopping trips always included stuff to update my school fashion as well. My school required us to wear uniforms so I made the most of what’s left for me to style–socks, shoes, handkerchiefs (yes, even that) and most importantly, my bag. We’d hit the department stores to scout for one big bag (the boxy kind that has a stroller) to put my books in and leave at school; and a smaller bag for everyday. I remember my stroller bag was always Hawk during my earlier years in school. It was mom who usually chose this so I always ended up with a boring, I mean MATURE-colored stroller bag. (What kid wants a navy blue or military green bag right? I’m still shaking my head in disappointment as I type this. Ugh mom.) Anyway, so imagine my surprise when I went inside Hawk‘s first stand-alone store in Market Market recently and saw all these colorful bags!!!

My mom has been hiding these from me all along! Printed, neon and pastel-colored backpacks and stroller bags were everywhere! (They also have camera backpacks, laptops, gym bags and fanny packs but I was most concerned about the school bags.) I felt cheated! LOL! Don’t you think then that it’s just right to get myself the school bag I would’ve gotten? It’s quite obvious I’m too old to use a stroller bag so I got a backpack instead–a pretty pastel pink and lilac backpack that I’d still use now that I’m in my 20s. It’s a refreshing break from my usually backpacks with thin straps that can be a little painful on my shoulders. Hawk bags’ shoulder straps are with dual density foam and has an ergonomic design that make them so comfortable to carry around. They also have heavy duty zippers, lock stitch technology, multi-organizer and weather resistance capability. Cool, right? I’m so proud a homegrown brand like Hawk makes such topnotch and not too mention COLORFUL (yes I’m still a bit bitter) bags for both kids and adults.

Love those pastel colors and neon colors, as well. Sadly, I wasn’t able to go in Pueblo Verde to meet you on Saturday because of school priorities. I’ve really missed a lot of chances seeing you many times already everytime you visit Cebu, but it seems I’m not destined to meet you yet. :(

Haha! Same here Cams. My mom would often buy me the dark colored bags instead of the pastel printed ones I like. Kasi nga hindi daw madaling marumihan. Mom-one. Me-nil. I wasn’t alone after all. LOL! I would have chosen that exact same backpack then (and now). I love all your photos Cams. Ganda mo. Ang dami siguro napahintong sasakyan. ;)

    Hi Camille,

I think everyone here will definitely agree with you since we all wear uniforms during our GS and HS days and even college days (as for me), we tend to be giddy whenever we go shopping for school stuff! pagandahan ng lunch box, hair clips and even pencil case! hahaha! I remember, I used to collect stationary hahaha! haiz, life back then is so simple ^^

PS What’s the brand of your dress? I love it!
