A couple of years ago, you would’ve never seen me brush my hair up like this–at least, not voluntarily. My bangs were my safety net. I couldn’t go out without them! It’s as if I’m able to hide part of my insecurities under my bangs. LOL! I’m sure most of you can relate. Us girls, we tend to hide behind our hair. But as one grows older, one slowly learns to let these insecurities go. You become at ease in your own skin–not because you feel more beautiful (well, not in my case at least), but because you become more accepting of your flaws. I think this is the reason why I’ve become more and more open to different ways of styling myself, in terms of hair, makeup and fashion. All this time I thought staying in my comfort zone allows me to portray the best version of myself because I’m able to put a cloak over my insecurities but really, it’s the only thing that’s stopping me from discovering all the other amazing possibilities in front of me. It’s a nice realization to have, which as you may have noticed, can not only be applied to beauty and fashion, but to other aspects of your life as well. Be accepting. Be open. Be free.
