Fit For Fashion

As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts, I went to Kuala Lumpur to attend the launch of something super exciting. That special something I was talking about is none other than Star World’s latest reality TV show, Fit For Fashion. Now, before you brush this show off as just another reality TV show, let me tell you a little something about it first and why I think this show is worth your while.

Fit For Fashion is the first-of-its-kind reality TV show produced by Imagine Group (the same producers behind hit shows The Contender Asia, The Biggest Loser Asia, The Challenger and The Apartment), in partnership with Fitness First and Fox International Channels. As you can probably tell from the show’s title, Fit For Fashion is all about fitness, but what sets it apart from the rest is that it’s not just about losing weight. Through various fitness and fashion challenges, the show’s 12 contestants selected from all over the globe will be pushed to their limits both physically and mentally. These 6 men and 6 women are ordinary people who come from all walks of life, each with different reasons for joining the show but all with one goal in mind–to become the best version of themselves. The contestants will use Fitness First’s training principles and innovative programmes to help them go further than they ever thought they can. As they transform into fit, stylish and confident individuals, their inspirational stories will unfold before us–some of which we can surely relate to.

I don’t know why this show wasn’t created sooner! I strongly believe that fitness and fashion work hand in hand. They’re both able to make people not just look good but feel good. It’s not about vanity but about taking charge of your life and dedicating yourself to an improved and healthier lifestyle. It’s about boosting your self-esteem, taking care of yourself and most of all, loving yourself. Isn’t that the kind of TV you want to watch? Motivational, inspirational and most of all, positive?

If this short background of the show got you interested, Fit For Fashion premieres on Star World this October 16 at 9:40PM. Since it’s still 2 weeks away, scroll through my photos below to see what happened at the show’s media launch and get a little sneak peek of the show’s judges and contestants before the series begins!

The media launch was held at Kuala Lumpur’s Pavilion mall.

At the center of the stage is the “Wall of Excuses”. I’m sure a lot of you can relate to them. These are the most common reasons people use to avoid exercise. They were gathered from Facebook users through an online app.

During the launch event, UK’s Acting High Commissioner to Malaysia Ray Kyles, President and Founder of Imagine Group Riaz Mahta, Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia Madame Chong, and CEO of Fitness First Asia Simon Flint all joined together to symbolically destroy this “Wall of Excuses”, revealing a video featuring inspirational stories from eight Fitness First members who have already ditched these excuses and improved their lives.

It was a touching video, made even more meaningful when these eight Fitness First members walked down the runway holding placards that encourage people to #ExerciseYourRight.

These members come form Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Philippines and Indonesia.

If I remember correctly, this remarkable woman is from Hong Kong and she received the loudest applause. I mean look at her, she is so admirable!

True success stories right in front of us.

Fit For Fashions judges and trainers are (from left to right): renowned fashion photographer and former model Todd Anthony Tyler, MMA Champion and fitness trainer Mitch Chilson, and LA’s hottest trainer and fitness model Christine Bullock. Unfortunately, the show’s host Louise Roe wasn’t able to make it.

Here are the show’s judges with 7 of the 12 contestants namely Vanessa Ammann (mermaid coach from Cebu), Shiva Nithiabala (businessman from Malaysia), Citra Corrigan (Australian mother of three who lives in Singapore), Matthew Kosub (head theatre usher from Melbourne), Chelsey Hall (Brit who currently lives in Boracay where she runs the chairty “Babies Of Boracay”), Jeral Foo (Sales and Marketing employee from Singapore) and Kristina Pakhomova (Russian model and actress based in Singapore). We actually got to interview them quite a bit after the private screening of the pilot episode. All I can say is they’re an interesting bunch!

Judging from the first episode, it looks like the shows goal isn’t just to entertain but to educate as well. Every now and then, there are exercise and fitness tips that are shown on the screen for the audience to take note of. Sooner or later, you’ll be a fit for fashion god/goddess in your own right!

Visit Fit For Fashion’s website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more details and updates. Time to #ExerciseYourRight, people!

This show is made for me! hehehe… My reason for trying to stay fit and healthy is because of hereditary diseases. Diabetes (Type 2) runs in our family, and I don’t want to go through the same thing in the future. My dad used to thrive on an unhealthy lifestyle (eating sweet and fatty foods, drinking and smoking). He was eventually diagnosed with diabetes. It is a common disease, but it’s quite complicated. :(

Pinabayaan ko sarili ko and I gained mga 15 pounds, which is not fit for my age and height. So far, I’ve lost 5 pounds. I feel healthier and my endurance has gotten better! :) And the best feeling that you can get when you stay fit and healthy? When your clothes finally fit you! :)

I think working out isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about your overall health and how you feel about yourself :) It can really change you for the better, not just physically :)

Wow! I’m excited for this show! I love the whole concept behind it and I agree that fitness and fashion go hand in hand. I like the Wall Of Excuses haha.

A lot of people think that “losing weight” is related to vanity, when in fact it is sometimes essential for one’s overall health.

Oooh it’s here! I’ve actually seen a photo of it sometime back in Facebook and really got interested. I think that was the time right after Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2 Finale. It slipped my mind though. Boohoo. Thanks for the heads up Cams! This show looks interesting.
