When my friend Carol came home from New York for the holidays, she mentioned she wanted to take a quick beach trip and take surfing lessons while she’s here. Since I haven’t been to the beach for quite some time now and I’ve never tried surfing my entire life, I jumped on the opportunity and gladly accompanied her to the nearest beach for surfers from Manila–to the beautiful province of La Union.
I can’t believe I only visited this place now! Look at that sky and clear waters! Isn’t our country gorgeous? How can you not fall in love with the Philippines? I’m showing my love for our country even more with my With Love bag from Aranaz which has the word “Philippines” proudly weaved on it. There’s actually a great story behind this bag. I came to know of it when Aranaz asked me to part of its campaign. The With love bag was created by Aranaz for the benefit of Typhoon Haiyan victims based in Basey, Samar–a town that has mat-weaving as its primary livelihood. Needless to say, the typhoon has dampened this thriving industry. So in true bayanihan spirit, weavers from Bicol lent a helping hand by handcrafting the With Love bag for Aranaz. Aranaz is not taking any profit from this project, instead, proceeds of the With Love bag will go straight to the residents of Basey, Samar. This is what makes the With Love bag all the more precious to me and I’m honored to be part of its campaign together with women I look up to. With Love is available at all Aranaz branches and online at www.aranaz.ph.
