Lashing Out

I thought I’d make this classic B&W look a little more fun by throwing this quirky shirt into the mix. Lashes on my eyes, lashes on my shirt–hence the PUN-ny title. Although puns aside, I really did wake up to a lot of people lashing out on social media. I’m sure a lot of you noticed the Instagram world’s call for turning post notifications on. People were freaking out because they thought the Instagram feed is getting dissolved. Now, as someone who uses social media heavily, I understand the panic going on but I must admit, I never thought it would reach this level. As much as I wanted to believe otherwise, people’s general reaction made me realize that a lot of us (not only social media personalities/influencers) are too invested in our online personas. Let me just clarify though, I’m not hating. We’ve all got our own reasons. You may be a small business trying to grow your network, an artist building your portfolio, an online personality curating your personal image and so on and so forth. We live in a modern world and social media is one of its most important tools. Naturally, we become invested. We adapt to it. We evolve with it. But even so, I hope that at the end of the day, we still know that the online world is just that–online. Post, curate, hashtag all you want but don’t forget to live in the now. Live for the moment. Live in the real world.

P.S. I know some of you are still concerned though which as I’ve said is understandable so here’s what I’ve gathered. According to what I’ve read online, Instagram is only on a testing phase and the feed still exists. Photos just won’t appear chronologically. Instead, photos that Instagram thinks you like more will be given priority and appear first. So if you’ve been liking a certain account’s photos more, then chances are, you’ll see their photos first on your feed —-which I think is pretty cool. No more lurking. Time to start liking. More relevant photos, less of the spam and annoying ones. If you still don’t like the change, no need to Fred. Again, as I’ve said, it’s only on a testing phase so only a few accounts will experience the change.

You can make a tshirt with lashes look classy. Those shoes make the outfit! Also, even though this was not your typical blog post, I’m glad you shared your honest thoughts and opinions. It’s a great reminder. I am reminded of your interview with Boy Abunda where you answered that you don’t limit how your blog will be, and you showed it here, and I feel as a result, we know more of you. P.S. I really liked the YouTube series you did with SM. I hope you recreate how to style and put those clothes together in this blog as maybe a sub-series, such as making over other people :)

Ohhhh that’s such a cool idea! Maybe in the future I’d consider that, when I have a bigger team with me :) Anyway, I’m happy you liked this post. The issue was everywhere so I thought I’d share my two cents :)

That’s true actually. I have encountered a lot of people who care about their fame than the real world which really pisses me off especially when they follow you and they expect to get a follow-back. I prefer to follow users who has more decent feed like yours than the others. Oh crud, no wonder your photos rarely appear on my home feed. I gotta start liking more of your photos!

By the way, I like that get-up! It’s an attractive basic outfit I might say. :D

I’m still not in favor of the upcoming updates of Instagram because it’s going to be a popularity contest. I still don’t buy their idea of thinking what I like to see?! What if I intentionally don’t hit the liked button in IG, it doesn’t mean that I don’t like that photo but it’s just my choice of not hitting it. How will IG know that I’ve been visiting your account everyday? I think it’s just there way of sugar-coating their intentions which I think will cause more negative effects in our narcissistic society. We may have different takes about these changes but for me, the ultimate reason why I hate it is because of the annoying notifications I’m receiving for every new post I’ve been following. Oh well, I hope they will not roll out the upgrade -_-

PS I’ve been eyeing your entire outfit since the first time I saw it in Mango huhuhu! It’s even cuter with a touch of a pussy bow!!!

Thanks Kay! I also don’t like the notifications. Just imagine what that’ll do to your phone’s battery which is also why I haven’t been asking people to “turn me on”. I don’t think you have to worry just yet though. You’ll still see photos of people you follow, just not in chronological order.

I loved how you finished this look off with that black ribbon choker Cams. And wow your hair! It looks amazing in contrast to your neutral toned outfit. Also regarding the IG issue, I guess it’s normal for people to freak out. Every time something changes we all tend to get anxious and all but just like everything else, we adapt to it eventually and learn how to use it to our advantage. We’ll see how things go. :)

True. But funny how people were freaking out over it without actually knowing the facts first. :)

Love this little outfit :) And I understand what you’re saying completely. It isn’t until I read this that I realised I shouldn’t be worrying about something as trivial as my Instagram newsfeed… Like you say, live in the now! Keep posting chick, lots of love xx
