Belle Of The Ball

Now I understand why some of my design clients insist on putting pockets on their custom-made gowns–life is just so much easier with them! I’ve never felt so free whilst in formal wear until now. Don’t get me wrong. As much as I love getting all dolled up and dressed to the nines, even I have to admit that a gown + stiletto heels + the tiniest minaudière in the world are not the most comfortable things to be wearing. There’s a huge price to pay to look glamorous, both literally and figuratively speaking. But fortunately, thanks to this gown I was able to at least (a) walk long strides (b) not worry about any bulges/tummy showing (c) fit both my phones, powerbank, lipstick and powder in my pockets (d) go hands-free and most importantly, (e) pee successfully! SCORE! Not a very belle-of-the-ball-like thing to say but come on girls, I’m sure you’ve all had struggles with that last one, especially when you’re wearing a gown with layers and layers of tulle or when you’re in the slinkiest gown ever and you’ve got a train to worry about. Oh the many obstacles we women have to face… it’s a hard life.

What can I say, belle is french beauty right? I think you’re beyond the belle of the ball. You’re so gorgeous! I’m not saying this because I love and adore you so much but seriously, you’re so beautiful. And i agree to the struggles. Ugh. Haha but I totally giggled and I’m still a bit shocked knowing that everything fitted in your pocket. Now, I wonder how heavy your pocket was. Haha this is definitely one of a kind gown! :)

I’ve always adore your outfits and pictures. Not only because of your amazing style but also the talent of your photographer that takes those pictures. Is that you have a personal photographer ?

No, just my friend :) I’m not really particular with who takes my photos. :) Thanks Cindy!

Dear Camille, I can’t look at your images for very long as they simply destroy me – in a nice way of course! ;) You are a vision of absolute pulchritude, and for someone like me who appreciates total femininity, this gown is just perfect on you – the perfect woman! As always thanks for sharing and have a fantastic 2015 ❤

I can think of no other words to express the title! You truly amped up this look, Miss Camille! The pattern on your dress is like a muted version of autumn. I imagine the leaves falling behind a matte screen illuminated by moonbeams. Since autumn colors usually come with gold, I was pleasantly surprised to see your choice of silver. I noticed the light strike the color temperatures differently in each of these photos. The silver brings out a bit more mystery in the red and and black undertones of leaves and petals.

(I tried to figure out what you meant about pockets. This dress is very well-tailored! :-D I observed the way it belled out in the last photo and understood the bevy of personal belongings you were able to fit in your pockets.)

You used extensions? O_O WHYYYYY? WHY, when I love your dark hair color already? *dramatic sob*. I saw the mermaid waves though, and I loved the detail of each curl. The 6th photo even shows a mixture of waves and thin twists, which is a good combination for pretty volume. :-D In my favorite photo, the one of you sitting on the stairs, I noticed how the ash-brown color of the extensions also gave your skin an enchanted feel. A sort of evening luminescence to match your pose.

I also thought your jewel-corsage was a watch at first. Its antique flair reminded me of England evening balls where the ladies would also have dance cards attached to their wrists as lines of men would vye for places on that card to ask the lady to dance. (I’m very sure you would have a full card!) Those beautiful earrings of yours gave your facial angles very subtle framing. I love the shape of them since they’re leaflike too. The sense of incongruity in these pieces combined with the shapes on your dress is always a welcome variety. :-D

How romantic, moonbeams! :) These photos were taken before I darkened my hair so don’t you worry :) Dark hair is still here :) Thank you Angelic! You’ve got me imagining all sorts of things with your comment!

Wow, what a nice gown! I hope I could join events like this and get to dress the part as well. Hehe.
Anyways, just a question (blogger-job related, I’m planning to start my own, but I don’t know if I’ll really pursue it but whatever), who takes your photos? And how do you direct the whole process? I’m thinking of doing everything spontaneously but I think that your poses look really blogger-ish. I hope you could post a topic like this for those aspiring bloggers like me.

    Thank you!

    Always reading your blog,

Thanks Bernadette! :) Whoever is with me takes my photos. Usually my assistant or driver. I set the camera settings and direct them so that they know where to shoot me from :) As for my poses, they’re just very me. I’ve always been into fashion so it was easy to imagine all these poses. My tip is to keep it effortless :)

The dress is simple yet the fabric design made it stand out :) And I love how you balance your clothes Miss Camille, so it wouldn’t look too flashy. I have learned so much from your style :) <3

First of all… HELLO AMAZING! WOW! you look absolutely stunning (I think that is a sentence I overuse on your blog, and, as an English major, I am ashamed of my lack of vocabulary when I see you on photos!) Second, THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING PEEING! My mom calls me a frog because I drink a lot of water and when I have to go to formal events, I prep myself a day earlier by cutting off my water intake in order not to have to go to the bathroom. I wish everyone could appreciate what we women go through.

I really love this gown!! it really looks comfortable. Aish I should’ve put pockets too when I had my grad ball gown custom made hahaha but next time I’ll surely choose gowns with pockets hahaha it’s a hassle carrying a purse sometimes eh. Can’t imagine that you had lots of things in your pocket hahaha :)

Can I ask how much the gown is? :)

I love dresses with pockets though I don’t actually put anything in them because I feel it pulls my dress down one side. I just like putting my hands in them!

Wishing you a happy new year with lots of new and exciting things!
