VLOG: #OwnIt

The internet is a scary place. This is a fact I was very much aware of even before starting my own blog. Not a lot of you know that one of the many reasons I was apprehensive to start my own blog (hence the word “tries” on Camille Tries To Blog) was the fear of getting judged. Yes, I was afraid of internet trolls. I was afraid of what people would say. I was afraid of getting hurt.

You see, we all have our insecurities. We all have our flaws. And to put yourself out there, especially on the internet, leaves you open to criticism, valid or not. I remember during the first few years of my blogging, I would let every negative comment affect me. No matter how trivial they may be, these words would pierce through my heart and bother me for the longest time. I was younger then, much more unsure of myself and not quite ready to face my demons. But with the right support system and with an open mind and heart, I persevered and came out stronger. I’m not saying negative comments don’t affect me anymore. Of course, they can still sting. But I’m okay with it. They don’t keep me up all night. They don’t make me doubt myself.  Because unlike before, I have EMBRACED my flaws and insecurities. Yes, I’m not the most beautiful girl in the word. Yes, my nose isn’t perfect. Yes, my voice is weirdly tiny. Yes, my style might not be your cup of tea. Yes, I have a resting bitch face. Yes, I look intimidating. Yes, I’m too thin for your liking. Yes, I don’t meet your “standards”. We can go on and on really. But the most important thing is, I’ve #OwnedIt. I’m doing what I love. I’m not hiding behind anything. And it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

Imagine if I let my insecurities and fears stop me from doing what I really love? Imagine if I just didn’t blog (and vlog) at all because of my worries? I wouldn’t have experienced all the wonderful things I’ve experienced this past 5 years. I wouldn’t have become the Camille you know now. So you, yes you! I want YOU to #OwnIt too. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from putting yourself out there and showing the world the AMAZING you.

I think this is really the message Smart Launchpad wants to convey. Through the Smart Launchpad #OwnIt Campaign and contest, change the way you think and broadcast your talents to the world. Hi Ate Camille! I’m inspired by this. I’ve been following you through your posts and I always love your content. I am an aspiring blogger. I always wanted to start a blog but I had my anxieties. When I did start my blog, I’ve been experiencing how being a newbie is…I did face bashers and somehow it really tore me. I did have a break for how many months because I became afraid. I don’t have much readers but I am still hopeful to be bloggers like you. This gives me so much hope. More power to you and God Bless <3

You should keep doing it because you love it! Don’t mind the stats. Don’t mind the bashers. They’re not worth your time <3

I sense that you might like books by R.M. Drake. He’s a self-published author and it’s amazing how he resonates with people through his words. Most of his poetry are about loving oneself, life and love. :)

Camille! This might be your best post yet. Honestly, I think rather than showing a perfect persona, when people show and share things honestly about their experience, it makes them more esteemable, relatable, and meaningful. I hope you would continue incorporating more of your personal feelings and philosophies in your blog/vlog. Love it!

Hi Camille. :) You are still the Camille Co I admire since day 1. You just proved in this article that when you worry less about what others are saying the happier you’ll be. Anyway, we cannot please everybody. We just really need to take those positively and be happy. You are always be an inspiration to me. See you soon. God Bless.
(I missed the chance of seeing you when you were in Cagayan de Oro) :(
Anyway, wishing you the best! :)

First time I saw you at Lookbook page, I instantly became one of your fans even after I reading your blog. That’s what I’ve actually learned about you, to embrace and love yourself. I do have a lot of insecurities within myself too and your words helped to face my own fears. Thanks because you did not stop blogging even now and although I haven’t leave comment for the past few times that I had stopped by at your blog, I really want to send you a big bear hug for all the motivation you’ve given me! :))

    Hello Camille!

I’m a regular blog visitor but first time to comment today.

Sometimes I agree with your style, sometimes I don’t (and that’s okay). But this post just subtly cuts right through and resonates to every person, or with me at least. I sense that you are writing from the heart here. Thank you for being honest and brave.

    I’ll keep reading.

That’s what i like ever since I started following you. ^_^ your a redhead back then with a blunt full bangs Ms. Camille but I like you. Your style I may not always like since I have a dress code to follow because of my religious beliefs and preference but still I could say your very good at dressing. Beautiful, Elegant and cute with sexiness ^_^ I love it when you feature skirt or dresses.

Thank you so much for sharing this beautifully positive and inspirational message Camille :) Just like you, one of the main reasons it took me so long to start my blog was because I was afraid of others’ criticisms, but at the end of the day, we shouldn’t give others control over us. We don’t need their validation to be who we are <3 Thank you for spreading positivity with all of us!

Camille, I really respect you for having the courage to stand up to your desenters, for perservereing in the midst of adversity. Remember this quote always: “What other people think of me is none of my business.” Stay true to yourself, because in the end that is all we have.

That’s one powerful video you got there. Straight to the point and runs straight to the heart — I got goosebumps while hearing your words. It takes a lot of courage to open yourself up like that, you’re brave. You don’t just dress well, you’re a good writer too. <3

I felt the same way when I was just starting to pose in the middle of somewhere, shoot a style photo or even share travel & style diaries on my blog. But then I realized that I won’t go somewhere good if I let people dictate how should I live and what should I become. Now, I no longer doubt with what can I do and what life has to offer. :) Thank you Cams for this inspiring piece!

We all have flaws, Kaisha. No one is perfect. To be truly happy, we need to accept them and focus on what matters and what makes us happy. Don’t let them bother you. <3
