Makeup Tutorial: Luminous

Time for another beauty update for all of you makeup and skincare addicts. I found another one-stop shop you’ll go gaga over! Let me introduce to you Beauty MNL, the go-to beauty destination for every Filipina, brought to you by the same team behind Deal Grocer and Taste Central. It’s got everything you need from your favorite drugstore brands like Revlon, Palmolive and Neutrogena; to hard to find brands like Fairy Drops, Maui Babe and Manic Panic; to luxury brands like Chanel, Tom Ford and Deborah Lippmann. These are just some of the many brands Beauty MNL carries.

If you’re a beauty newbie and you don’t know where to start and which products to get, don’t fret. Beauty MNL also has a magazine section where they provide fun and insightful articles tailor-fit to the Filipina’s lifestyle so that beauty newbies can become beauty experts in no time. Yes, it’s possible. I should know because just a few years ago, I knew zero stuff about makeup and skincare. But look at me now, I’m even sharing makeup tutorials and skincare tips to you!

Remember girls, there’s nothing wrong with feeling and looking more beautiful because this only means you’re taking good care of yourself–which should always be the case. You have every right to feel your most beautiful–EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Having said that, here’s another makeup tutorial for you to help you look your best.

Makeup look: feminine and luminous featuring brown and pink shades.

BeautyMNL.com makeup haul: Chanel Vitalumiere Compact Douceur, POP Beauty Bright Up Your Life in Natural Bare eye shadow palette, FRESH Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment SPF 15, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Caramel, NARS Cosmetics Satin Lip Pencil and Beauty Box Four-Bulb Vanity Mirror (as seen below).

Step 1: After moisturizing and applying your primer, time to even out your skin with your favorite power/foundation. This time, I’m using powder instead of my usual liquid foundation. In all fairness to this product, it’s so velvety smooth, it doesn’t feel like I have powder on at all!

Step 2: Draw on your eyebrows. Anastasia Beverly Hills has quickly become my go-to brand for anything eyebrow-related.

I can not stress enough how important this step is. Eyebrows are everything! They make your features much more defined.

Step 3: Grab your favorite concealer and apply it under your eyes, on the bridge of your nose and the sides of your nose.

Step 4: Now it’s the fun part! Using POP Beauty’s eye shadow palette, play around with the different shades of nudes and browns. Just always make sure to blend them all together.

If you want to imitate my eye makeup, here’s what I did. I used the lightest shade with shimmer as my eye makeup’s base.

Then, I used the darkest shade and applied it on the lower part of my upper eyelid.

Like so.

To blend the two colors together, I used an in-between shade to create a gradient effect.

Blend, blend, blend!

Step 5: Line your lower lash line with a brown pencil eyeliner.

Step 6: Smudge it a little using a thin brush for a bit of drama.

Step 7: Time to contour, highlight and apply blush! (I did a tutorial on this before here and here.)

Step 8: Finally, apply your lipstick. I chose FRESH’s Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment for a natural look. I’ve read rave reviews about how moisturizing this product is and I must say, all the hype is true!

And voila, we’re done! Thanks to this mirror and its lights, it took me half my usual makeup time to get this look. (And double the time to take more and more selfies because I just couldn’t get enough of this lighting.)

P.S. Since we’re already on the topic of online stores, I thought I’d share some more good news. One of my favorite international stores, Shopbop, is currently running its BIG SPRING SALE until March 8, 2015 at 4:00AM Eastern Time (New York time zone). You can save 15% with purchases over $250, 20% with purchases over $500 and 25% with purchases over $1000! Just enter the coupon code here to avail of the promo.

This tutorial is perfect for me!! Why? Because Neutral makeup is my comfort zone. Seriously, I noticed all my eyeshadow palette purchases are all in neutral shade but that’s how I like my makeup, simple yet blooming. Kunwari no-makeup makeup look. and I totally agree with the eyebrows! It makes everything more defined. hehe :D do more sweet girl and date night makeup tutorials in the future too. :)

Every girl should really take care of her skin. That way we won’t even have to apply make-up! :) Love this look Ate Cams!! Btw, what sunblock do you recommend that can be used for both face and body? :)
